The MSIU (Mobile Security Inspection Unit) is a versatile and mobile on-trailer inspection unit, consisting of everything required for on-the-spot crowd and baggage inspection and including the necessary power supply for all electronic equipment. The entire unit is built on a 5x2 m trailer with low (one step) entrance height and four doors, two each for entrances and exits in order to screen at least two individuals or crowd members at a time with walk through metal detectors. Additionally, one or two x-ray baggage scanners can be installed, supervised from one operator. A number of hand held detector’s for detailed checks are also supplied with the unit.
The on board power system is 12 Volt DC, supplied by high capacity deep cycle batteries. Depending on application and location, the batteries can be recharged from solar panels installed at the roof, from the towing vehicles generator or from the on board mains charger. The solar panel size is about 10 square meters in size which is sufficient to directly supply the required power, drawn from the unit at daytime, or to recharge the batteries in standby mode. The batteries have capacity for about 4 hour’s full operation each and can be added on, depending on available space and requirements.
There are many applications for temporary employment of such mobile units like all kind of events, at schools, at harbors, train, bus and subway stations for a secure check in, special police action etc. The units can be employed at any time and anywhere without setup time. The number of possible vulnerable check points is far too high for fixed installations at all points and is growing every day.
